I know we went camping in AUGUST but things have been crazy busy and I didn't get around to posting so Better late than never right?
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- As much as I totally love the outdoors I am not a camper!! This dislike I have for camping really started when I became the Mother for obvious reasons. Mothers have way too many things to think about cleaning- put us and our entire families in living arrangements where dirt is our floor and it is not pretty! Plus just being Scotties mom puts me way over the edge.
- In 13 years (that Todd and I have been married) all 11 of Todd's siblings, their families and his parents have never been on a vacation together THEY WERE ALL GOING!!! With that in mind we started off with great possibilities. So I happily went.
Scott is almost eight and most Eight year olds can go on hikes, ride bikes with cousins, play games with cousins away from the sight of his mom, can stay pretty clean, can take their own showers etc... Scott- Not even close! Maybe when he is 18???
Scott spends his time: making messes, screaming at people who walk by, going into the women's restroom, getting into the mini chip bags AGAIN when he ate 3 bags for breakfast and 6 bags for lunch, screaming at me, running towards the cars that drive by the campsite trying to get hit, screaming at the cars, making a mess again and going back to the restroom.
I'm pretty sure other 8 year olds do not Scream SO SO Loud ALL THE TIME and hit their head OR hit strangers for no reason. Plus now he is biting people- Yeah he picked that one up when he was 7 1/2 NICE! -Needless to say I make a lot of effort keep him out of an arms reach of everyone.
About the Restroom: Scottie has become OBSESSED with items located in the WOMEN'S BATHROOM-tampon trash cans, plungers and toilet bowl brushes. Umm, he was in the bathroom like every 10 min.
Don't get me wrong, I love my life, it is good, and I am greatly blessed, but I'm just tired sometimes...
Who wouldn't have fun with these great people:
- We hung out by the camp fire
- Played in a giant 2 hour ring toss tournament
- Went on hikes
- Played several games of Rook
- Went on amazing runs
- Visited Beautiful sites
- We Laughed
- We just plain had fun!
The best part was just being there with our family who we love so much!!

I agree with what you said about camping. I LOVED it as a kid, it was the BEST! But since having children, we have have not gone once. You are a brave brave soul, especially with all the dynamics of Scott.
Amber you have the right to be tired!!! I too am NOT a fan of camping, especially being the MOM! We are the ones preping it all, right?! You deserve a medal for even going! I think the last time our sleeping bags got used was when you and Todd borrowed them years ago.... :)
So glad that you endured! We loved seeing your family adn I never minded getting Scottie out of the women's bathroom! I LOVED seeing him and getting those great kisses from him! Love you guys!
